Holiday Blues

I have been home now for three days, and I miss Cambodia already. I feel there was more to see. Thankfully the weather was nice for this weekend so I have been able to catch up on the garden chores.

I have received comments that I was perhaps isolated from the rest of the group. I want to apologise if that is what came across, as that was not the case. Please remember that this is the first time I have been on holiday alone, I travel alone with work all the time, but never been on holiday alone, although this was an organised tour through Riviera. The whole tour was extremely well organised, and our tour manager was superb taking care of every little detail and even spending a day at the police station and embassy when two passengers had their passports stolen.

Everyone in the group was lovely. It was a mixed group and of course it took a few days to get to know people and feel properly at ease, but by day 4, everyone is getting along as if they had known each other for ever. And a right mixture we had, it would take a novel to cover everyone but to give you an idea of the different characters, Linda, my partner in crime for wandering off and experiencing the local culture brought the group to tears with her antics and talk, my coach pal Liz was travelling with her brother and his wife and we got seated together for the entire tour. Liz made sure I knew the plan for the following day and always made sure I knew where I was on the map, she was a real sweetie. Then we had the gorgeous sisters who travel everywhere together and are so kind and caring. Jan and Graham who are so delightful and Jan is so soft and kind with everyone, she made a locals day by giving him and his family a gift. Barbara and daughter who took care of me on my first night, Barbara was a true lady. The lovely family from Ireland with a son any mum would be proud of and despite being so much younger than everyone else, Dillon mixed well with everyone. Carol was charming and without here I would not have completed the full length of the tunnels but we egged each other on to the end. Everyone else was really lovely too and helped to make the holiday special....thanks to them all.

Was never sure I would be the sort of person to go on an organised tour, but I think I am hooked and am planning India next! Until then, I am starting my self teaching on communism and the Vietnam and Cambodian troubles, my interest to learn more remains just as high.

Until my next trip.......
